After a long time, I
Opened my notebook,...
Took a pen in my hand to write a blog for you :)
Hi,
Hope you are good.
Going a few days without social media (kind of) and less screen time has been a great experience (You should also try it out). After a long time, I have felt like the world outside the internet is also good. Some scheduling also helped to get the routine good... it's great!
Is it something that you and I always do? Overthinking the 'big thing'. The next big presentation, that crucial exam, that important meeting or that meeting with someone important ❤️. That important interview, that event, that presentation, and the list goes on.
Overthinking the Big Thing
Let's agree, the thing that we find important can be anything. It gives us a feeling of excitement and nervousness that is sometimes unexplainable.
It is our brain, the thought that we have pre-installed in our head through others' opinions, experiences, internet- the reason could be anything. This becomes one of the main reasons why we overthink a certain event (that is going to happen).
It becomes so huge in our minds that we forget to remember ourselves that it is just an event (it could be anything). It sometimes also makes us overthink because of its importance in our lives.
Let's take this scenario,
You have this examination, it is important for you. It is tough (as the people around you are saying). You are preparing for it from a year ago. Now, it's the day before you start to overthink.
The thoughts in mind- Have I taken everything I need for that exam? Have I prepared enough? I don't know what will happen. How will be the paper itself? Will it be tough? What if I get late?
Experiencing it Says it all
That thing that you were overthinking about. It is happening to you now. Whatever it was. It's happening right now.
(It is my personal observation)
Now you realize, that it's just all normal, but you are nervous, your body temperature has dropped, time is moving slowly or fast (depending upon the scenario), all these things are happening to you.
And...
You are now doing the thing whether giving an interview or having a meeting with that important client. You are now in the scenario you were preparing for.
Suddenly you realize that it is all normal, you have to do what you are there for and that's it. (You know, the mind doesn't let us do that, it keeps playing tricks)
Let's get back to the scenario,
You are outside the examination centre/hall. Super nervous, seeing everyone around you. All these thoughts in your mind are racing each other. Gate opens...
You enter the centre, then the building, on the right floor, you finds the room, sees the room you have to take the exam in, you enter and... cinematic music plays. Hahaha, that's not the case. You are still nervous, sit down, get the answer sheet, and then comes the question paper.
Now you see the question paper and... it is not as hard as people told you as your mind thought it would be, as opinions were.
You smile, gives the paper, it gets over on time, it went good, and you leave the hall/centre with a smile and now that's like a happy ending.
🕛Time/Preparation
Time and preparation plays an important role in the state of mind we get before that big thing.
As our elders say, the amount of time we spend on preparation gives us confidence.
It helps.
‘Where there is preparation there is no fear’. -Hwang Lee
We literally can make that task seem like a normal thing if we have confidence in ourselves.
Support from People around You.
It is a big thing. It is a big thing. Getting support from people around you helps you counter that 'big thing'. The support the encouragement people give you boost your confidence.
Remember, you are always and always your biggest supporter, and encourager. The external support from people around you, you know helps but the internal support you give yourself. It shows up on you.
I kept the last ones short as it depends on you.
After all that you read, look... you have to do it. I don't know which movie it is but I saw on Instagram, that clip said, 'When you are afraid to jump, that's the exact time you jump. Otherwise, you end up being in the same place for your whole life.' Remember this.
(Exales) Relaxed
Closes the notebook...
Put the pen's cap back on.
Thank you for reading till the end, you are great.
Smile, it's good for health
Bye :)
